Scott and the City // March in Review

31 Mar

Ok. How is it the end of March already? This month flew by! Looking back on the month, for better or for worse, it has been an eventful one. Horrific earthquakes, the beginning of a new season, and several events around the city made for a memorable March.

I made this blog 🙂 Started an internship. Finished up a semester – only one left! 🙂 It rained. I became obsessed with the new Trina mixtape Diamonds Are Forever. (hahaha it’s amazing and available for free listening or download online here) Joe Zee, Creative Director of Elle, premiered All On The Line (his new show on helping struggling designers with their collections). Lady Gaga got a job as a columnist for V Magazine. It rained some more.

As Vancouver warms up, it spells Spring Fever for this fellow. I’m still stuck on the cropped pants at Nicholas K…

and I’m really feeling the simple but edgy vibe of the Loden Dager S/S 2011 collection. Those deconstructed zipper tanks are to die for.

I took home the new Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche fragrance after assisting with a Chanel trunk show at Holt Renfrew and promptly fell in love with it. (I’ll do a blog post in the near future on my favorite men’s fragrances – so many I’m loving right now!) Not only was the Chanel gorgeous, guests arrived in style and looked like stars.

Chanel smells like heaven!

Then there was the March 29th sold-out Jacqueline Conoir F/W 2011 25th anniversary show at the Ferrari Maserati showroom on Burrard Street, where she also debuted her new line, JAC, a drool-inducing collection as genius as her eponymous line, targeted at a younger audience.

True to the show’s soundtrack, the models looked Indestructable as they marched down the runway to Robyn’s breathtaking ballad of the same name, in covetable coats, cool fedoras, and, my personal favorite, the odd pair of (what looked like) short leather gloves with a studded bow on each, before transitioning into a sexy finale of revealing black evening dresses that would make Madonna blush. (Ok… maybe not Madonna… but they were HOT.) There was then a beautiful musical performance, and a special announcement of Jacqueline Conoir’s new line as the giant white letters J-A-C were placed at the back of the runway, before we were thrown into the exciting new JAC line with aggressive red flashing lights and hard pumping dance music. The two collections complemented each other with some similar themes while appealing to a totally different demographic – perfect! Girls, get your Moms and go see Jacqueline Conoir, because she’ll have something perfect for both of you.

    My Dearest!

As I sit here, waiting for the time to pass until I can do the walk through of my former apartment, I’ve taken time to stop and read your blog (as I had been telling myself I will read it when I get a chance – can you say auto-pilot?!). Two words and one emoticon (or a symbol and a number) come to mind – I ❤ You! As well, can you please be my personal stylist?! I'm not wearing crocs right now, but I'm pretty darn near close to that level and I need help!! You know what I sayin'?!

Oh and "The Alchemist" is amazing!!

I don’t know how I feel about the Loden Dager deconstructed zipper tanks – they seem almost to heavy for spring/summer. Are they denim? If nothing else, they are…interesting.

    • intrepidtendency 31/03/2011 at 5:36 PM #

They are certainly… interesting! 🙂 I’m not sure on the exact fabric, but it looks like there was a black one out of a lighter jersey fabric in another part of the collection. Those two examples I posted I think were some sort of a stiff cotton fabric for the darker blue one and some sort of nylon taffeta/wind breaker-esque fabric it looks like for the other lighter blue one hahaha. That’s a complete guess though! 🙂 I went to check out the site to see if the fabric was listed anywhere but couldn’t find it.
