Favorite S/S 2012 Menswear Looks So Far // Versace x H&M

22 Jun

Hello my delightful intrepids!

I have missed you! I have regrettably been neglecting my dear blog as I have been pre-occupied helping out with different events around the city (like the Leo Awards) and finishing up the Fashion Merchandising program at the Blanche Macdonald Centre. The program directors were kind enough to present me with some flowers and extremely kind words in celebration of my graduation. I will certainly miss them very much! (I can’t believe that my last final is already this Friday?! ‘Tis been one flash of a year Vancouver!) It’s already close to the end of June!

…and what a month June has been already.

I probably don’t even need to mention the Stanley Cup playoffs or the mess that ensued…  Thankfully the lovely people of Vancouver had the downtown area cleaned up in no time! 🙂

On a much happier note, let’s talk about the Spring 2012 Menswear runway shows so far! I have loved what I’ve been seeing so far from the pom-pom hats at Burberry Prorsum, tons of denim from D&G, and the amazing prints on the golfers from Prada… Here are just a few of my favorite looks fresh from the runway so far.

Also, just announced, Versace will be the latest luxury label to collaborate with H&M. The highly anticipated collection is set to feature classic prints from the Versace archives and include homewares as well as clothing. You can read more about the collaboration here. I mentioned this on Twitter a little while ago, but for those who missed or are unaware, Versace is really taking center stage these days as Lady Gaga donned vintage Versace pieces (circa Gianni Versace’s reign)  in her latest music video for ‘The Edge of Glory’.

It will be interesting to see how this Versace x H&M collection pans out and where the label will go in the near future – this collaboration certainly marks a new attitude from Donatella Versace, who has previously stated that doing a diffusion collection was not in line with the Versace label’s prestigious reputation. Ohhhh, the times they are a changin’.

What have been your favorite mens collections so far? If I had to pick JUST one, I’d probably have to go with Prada… but there are plenty of others in close contention (Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen anyone?) Also, are you excited for the Versace x H&M Collection?

Until next time my faithful intrepids,

xx Scott

PS: I am happy to report that I am now in posession of the Bleu de Chanel fragrance that I was coveting in my last post after working a recent product launch. It is my new favorite for sure. NOW just to get my hands on some Tom Ford. 🙂
